What to do this week
Daily trichome checks with a loupe starting when pistils are 60-70% darkened. Watch the forecast as closely as the trichomes — a hard frost or several days of rain can force an early chop.
Common mistakes at this stage
- Chopping on a calendar date instead of trichome color because a frost warning came in — sometimes that's the right call, but know why you're making it.
- Not having a rain plan. Wet colas sitting for two days is how bud rot starts this late in the season.
