Transplant
Into 15- to 25-gallon fabric pots or the ground, after your last frost date plus a buffer. Water in heavy the first time, then let the medium dry down before the next watering.
Common mistakes at this stage
- Transplanting the day of last frost instead of a week or two after — a late frost still happens more years than not.
- Using straight garden soil in containers. It compacts and drains poorly; cut it with a quality potting mix.
